Fun fact: Our Square Sided Salad Plate was originally crafted for a burger — specifically, the legendary burger at chef April Bloomfield’s Salvation Burger. This is the perfect plate for casual meals, from your morning avocado toast to a late-night slice of pizza (and, as the name suggests, salad). Whatever you’re having, spills don’t stand a chance against the hand-jiggered vertical rim, so go ahead and make the egg in your breakfast sandwich extra runny. You’ve earned it.
8.5" W x 1" H and weighs about 1.5 lbs.
Our products are made of ceramic stoneware, using clays sourced in the northeastern United States. Each piece is designed with a thick build, constructed by hand, and kiln-fired to temperatures over 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure maximum strength and durability.

Dark Brown / White is our foundational clay and glaze combination, available in the largest assortment of shapes. With this pairing, we apply a slightly thinner coat of glaze than on our Toasted clay—enabling some of the darker clay beneath to be seen and giving the glaze an off-white tone.

Moss is our most temperamental glaze, but with our recently revamped glazing method we’ve been able to achieve a more consistent color. The result is a softer, subtler, earthy green that is more uniform in tone than earlier versions, while still retaining a touch of the natural variation that makes this hand-applied glaze special.

Our Toasted / White combination has a brighter finish than our Dark Brown / White colorway. The clay also has grog—pre-fired, ground pottery that’s mixed into clay—which is a bit rougher in our Toasted clay than in our Dark Brown clay, but it smoothes out over time. (Think of it like breaking in a pair of raw denim, except you do none of the work.)
Something to be aware of: Little dark brown or black speckles may appear on the surface of the glaze where bits of iron come through.

Our Birch dinnerware also uses Toasted clay and White glaze, but this style is differentiated in the way the glaze is applied. On Birch, the glaze covers both the interior and exterior of each piece, and the only exposed raw clay is found along the rim, which is achieved by an artisan in our studio wiping the rim by hand. The Square Sided Salad Plate will ship within 5 - 10 business days.
At present, we are able to ship retail orders to the United States and Canada (please review our FAQ for additional information on Canadian import duties). We also ship internationally to restaurants and hospitality businesses that meet our order minimums. Please contact us at hospitality@jonopandolfi.pro if you're interested in learning more about placing a hospitality order for delivery overseas.
When trying to decide if a glaze color or clay body is right for you, we recommend purchasing a smaller item like a Cereal Bowl in the color of choice to see it in person first. Our pottery is often made or glazed to order and very tricky to ship, so we try to provide our customers with as much guidance as we can in advance of ordering to minimize returns. That said, if you're not satisfied with what you receive, we'll issue a refund less a 15% restocking fee. (Restocking fees will be waived for orders under $50.)

Our Story
When Jono started the company in 2004, he had a simple mission: to design unique dinnerware options for the hospitality industry. He started small, with one wheel and one kiln, and collaborated with chefs, taking risks and learning from his mistakes. Then and now, his priority is to work directly with our clients, responding quickly and thoughtfully to their needs in ways that larger manufacturers can’t, resulting in dinnerware with a personal feel that sets our clients’ restaurants and dining rooms apart.
Our Process
Each piece that Jono has designed has its own unique production process, which can entail as many as 15 individual steps, and use methods such as slip casting, jiggering, and good old-fashioned wheel throwing. Our studio is equipped with 10 kilns and 6 wheels and we begin each day with the thrill of opening our Blaauw kiln to discover the finished pieces we loaded in the night before.
